Upcoming Sporting CT Events For 2019

Hello Everyone,

As we are almost entering 2019 soon, we want to share with you all our upcoming Sporting events for the upcoming year. We have designed each program to fit any players' needs and help them improve their overall performance and confidence on the field.

FUTSAL - SESSION 2 (Jan 30 - March 27)

Sporting CT's 8 week Futsal Clinic will endeavor to cultivate these skills through technical work, small group activities & game play in each of our classes.  This clinic will take place at two different gyms in Middletown.

Our main goal for this program is to continue on developing player's skills through the magical and fast phase of the Futsal game.  Futsal popularity is growing due to its quick results and positive effects it has on players’ development. Futsal is a quick style of soccer popular in Europe and South America.

The essence of futsal is the efficiency with split-second improvisation, creativity and technique. Futsal is played on a small, indoor court with a smaller (size 3), heavier ball which doesn't bounce much. This process allows players to quickly settle the ball on the ground and keep it on their feet.

This program is for all boys and girls who want to take their skills and confidence to a whole new level. Players will train for an hour each week where our sessions last 8 weeks.

Sporting CT Futsal Clinic 2018/19

Sporting CT is pleased to announce our third year Futsal winter program for 2018/19 season which will be directed by Andrei Popescu (popescu8@hotmail.com). Futsal is a quick dynamic game extremely popular in Europe & South America. The essence of futsal is to provide players the opportunity to be part of an efficient and fast paced environment that develops excellent ball control, split-second improvisation & creativity.

This program is designed for players of all levels. Our coaching staff will create a learning environment that focuses primarily on skill development. One of the main benefits of our Futsal clinics is to work on players' individual skills where coaches have limited time to teach during regular team practices throughout the season. Coach Jarice will be coaching the futsal clinics (Jarice@sportingct.com).

Our training program emphasizes on:

•    Ball control

•    Precise passing in tight spaces

•    Speed of play

•    Game awareness

•    Vision and improvisation

•    Over 460% more touches on the ball than a regular practice

•    Boost players' confidence in one-on-one game situations

•    LOTS OF FUN

SportingCT futsal's goal is to provide our players an opportunity to develop their skills and increase their confidence during the winter months.

What players should bring:

  • Water
  • Indoor shoes (playing in the gym)
  • Futsal ball if possible (our coaches will have futsal balls available as well)

Sporting CT 2003 Boys - Nationals trip

Hello Sporting CT families,

Our Sporting CT 2003 boys had attend Nationals tournament in Aurora Colorado this past weekend. What a great exposure for our club and our team this trip was. It was nice to be around one of the best teams in USA and compete against teams from other states. We tied our first game 1-1 against team from California, second game we won 2-0 against team from NY and our last game we lost 2-0 against Columbus Ohio team.

Overall  we miss semifinals on goal differential but we are so proud of run this team had last 6-7 months. Our boys had won so many tournaments, league games, playoff games and made it to nationals as CT State cup champions. We set bars very high before season started with our goals and we made almost to the end one game short of nationals championship game but we have something to look forward next year and get better individually and as team and come back for national championship trophy...

This boys are great example for all our younger age group teams that with hard work, talent and good coaching everything is possible, we are all looking forward for more Sporting CT teams to reach this level and expirience next level of play in tournaments like this one..

Sporting CT- CT State Cup Champions

Congratulations to our Sporting CT coaches and players on winning the State Cup. When you see great success at this level it starts with the right player developmental philosophy which our club continuously works on implementing daily in all our players.

Without committed, hard working and talented players and coaches who endlessly dedicate their time and trust into our club over a long period of time, none of this would be possible.

When all the details are in place, the big picture will come once we master the execution process. It’s easy to see our goals and objectives coming to life. This is a process and it can be very beneficial if you commit yourself to it and give it your best no matter the outcome.

Patience it’s a virtue many don’t have or understand. You can’t win cups/leagues/tourneys without mastering your patience on how to overcome your struggles which will help you build a great character for the rest of your life.

Great things will come your way but you first must learn from your failures and defeats. Today our club had an amazing day by making history on winning the state cup on numerous ages for the first time ever. Our leadership and coaching team is strong and hungry to succeed.

Congratulation to 2005 girls team, 2002 girls team and 2003 boys team for making history as first Sporting CT teams to win CT State Cup and to 2004 girls team for fighting to the end and losing in 2nd  OT in the finals we are so very proud of each of you....

Jarice Manson - Sporting CT Academy Director

Sporting CT is very happy to secure services of one of the top coaches, not just in our club, but in all of Connecticut. Coach Jarice is a very passionate person who wants the very best for each and every child he coaches. He knows how to motivate and gets the best out of each player.
Jarice has been with Sporting CT for the past 5 years. During those years, we saw each child, under his leadership, become a better soccer player. We also saw improvement on each team he coached.
Coach Jarice will become Academy Director for Sporting CT. He will be responsible for overseeing our fall academy program where we have over 600 children each fall. He will also search and find talented players ready to move to either our travel program or premier program.
Jarice will continue to coach his current teams for the 2018/19 season and he will help coach Andrei with college prep presentations for our high school players.
Lastly coach Jarice will continue to run our winter futsal program for boys and girls groups.
We will continue to update you with more coaching assignments, and news about Sporting CT, in the next few days. We look forward to a bright future with Coach Jarice.
